Yeah I spoke to poms before about how best to house these two girls with the hope of them staying together and not fighting!! Little did I know, 3 weeks later I would be messaging to say they are not both girls and I now have pups!!! I'm sure I will hear back from her soon. But for now, mum and pups will be left well alone and Dad is getting used to living on his own!!
WOW what an evening!! Don't think I will sleep tonight!

Heh, heh. Surprises tend to keep us awake and on edge, don't they?

Yes definitely!!

I just hope Autumn calms down now and looks after them. Will be gutted if I stressed her out so much that anything happens to them.

Think I need a cup of tea and calm down after an eventful hour or so! Although I know when I lie in bed tonight, I will just be listening all the time for little squeaks!

Thank you so much everyone for your input, it has kept me sane and focused on what needs doing!

Hiya, i'm just of to sleep now, but wanted to set your mind at rest for the night. You have dad out, you've got mum In the quiet, and leaving her peaceful. If you have a water bowl, change it for a bottle as quietly as possible, and if there needs to be more food tonight which is unlikely, put it in as far away from the nest as possible. Keep the lights off, and everything quiet. For tonight that is all you can do, I'll pm you tomorrow as there is more to look out for with Winter being Autumn's son and father of the pups. Don't panic, I'm here to help as much as I possibly can, as is everyone else xx

Thank you Poms...I sent you an email with more details. You have put my mind at rest for tonight though and I will attempt to get some sleep very soon. Look forward to hearing from you tomorrow.x

Just wanted to tell you guys that I am lying in bed and hear the tiny chirping from the cage next to me! It's so cute! I'm almost certain that there is only 1 or 2 pups though as that's all I can hear really. I definitely don't thinks there's anymore than 2.

Need sleep now!!

Update- It's just gone 5am and I am wide awake after a still slightly stressed Autumn (mum) has been scratching at the corner of her cage for a bit. She did it for a good 10 mins as well as running around the cage again but now seems to have settled back in the nest again. Good news is I can still hear the chirping/squeaking sound...but I'm almost certain that there is only one pup. The noise doesn't sound like it is coming from more than one anyway.

Well, it's unfortunate that you disturbed the nest, but you had no idea you had a soon-to-be mama in there. Since you only took a quick peek and immediately backed off and were smart enough to remove the papa, you may be okay. If you are still hearing the babies, or mama is still acting busy in her nest for the next 2 days or so, the babies should be safe. Hope it all works out well.

It is now roughly 24 hours since pups were born. Mummy Autumn seems less stressed tonight and I have seen her come out of her nest for food and water. There are still little squeaks coming from within the nest but still none the wiser as to how many pups there might be.
After some great advice from poms, I am feeling more confident on what I'm doing and have my fingers crossed for a success story here
