Default keeping it in the family

when i bred guinea pigs, some people would mate the daughter to the father or the son to the mother to keep a good line going. i myself never did this, but wondered if any hammie people do this?

It does happen yes, ILMH, although lots of people have different views on it. Strangely enough there is a debate going on at the moment about it on another thread ~
