Re: Panic! Could my Darcy be pregnant??
Thank you Shiny and the hammies ... Just had her out and managed to have a little feel of her tummy, It feels a bit lumpy I will change her house to one with no bottom. The other house I have is wooden but not plasticoted yet, Should I leave her in the house she is in for one more night so that I can plasticote the wooden house now and it will be dry and aired for tomorrow night? Will it be the same things to do for a dwarf as for a syrian? I have taken out her wheel only problem with the wooden house I have is that the sides are sloped so darcy could climb up it, the wooden house that isnt sloped is the one my boys sleep in - the same with Finley none of them seam to like the sloped house.

Darcy has been to the vets today - confirmed pregnant and shouldnt be too long now by the feel of things. They were surprised at how friendly she still is

VERY smart of you for going to the vet... Seriously, you rock ! Now, you'll have to get ready for the pups... Do you know what to do ? You'll get plenty of help here... You won't be alone... Things are gonna be ok... =)

yay! You did a smart thing, going to the vet!
Have you done much research? There's some good breeding wiki's on here, also if you just tap in 'dwarf breeding' on google, lots of stuff comes up. If you can pay for fast, next day postage, the book Hamsterlopaedia is excellent.

Re: Panic! Could my Darcy be pregnant??
I hope they think I rock too lol!! Vet is giving me lots of syringes for just encase she abandons the pups due to the stress from trying to retrieve them will be greater as she isnt great on her feet. I have been warned that I should expect a small amount of pups if any as she will likely eat most so that she can cope retrieving them, she knows best! I have spent hours searching the internet of what to do! Stocked up on supplies today ready for them for encase she does abandon them. Silvers mix has arrived so I have enough for the additional mouths! They have said as soon as she starts to give birth ring them to give them a heads up for an emergancy and they will tell the 24hour vet now to be prepared. (I love my vets) they told me to think about insurance for her just for this month as a precaution for any issues and can cancel it after the birth and weening and start saving some each month as that will be more valuable in the long run than the insurance. I do have some saved up in my hammy hospital fund but not loads as finley has been dipping into that! can you get the Hamsterlopaedia as an Ebook?

Re: Panic! Could my Darcy be pregnant??
I will keep you as updated as I can - Although I can see my hands being full with 5 hammys and more pups to look after Im slightly excited now but not letting myself get too excited as I know to be prepared for any problems and I have to think more for Darcy's health. Plus I need to stay calm for her and the pups

Good luck with the litter and remember to try and stay calm. The guys on this forum always give great advice, they are like an interactive Hamster Wiki
