Standard 'New Owner' NHC form?
I an starting to think I'm going mad.....is there a standard form used by the NHC for recording the name and address of new owners when they buy baby hamsters from an NHC breeder? If so, could anyone show me the link to it, or email me a copy?
I'm sure every time I've bought a hamster myself at a show, from various different breeders, I've been given the pedigree on one sheet and this other form, which has one side with some 'you are going to take this seriously, aren't you!' paragraphs, and on the other I have to fill in my details for the breeder to keep. But I can't find any reference to this form anywhere on the NHC or SHC/MHC sites! (I was assuming I'd be able to download it from one of them)
(I'm now about to send my young hamsters off to their new homes at the weekend, so I'm trying to make sure I have all the paperwork ready in advance)

Re: Standard 'New Owner' NHC form?
Their is one, at least for the southern/mid, it's in two parts, breeder keeps one bit with the name address ect on it, baisicly saying you will feed it, water it, cage it and give it what it needs, you will be responsible fr taking it to the vet ect (for the new owner)
I gave quite a few of them about xD the sales managers at shows know me now haha! Still fill it out tho
I will see if I can scan it in, or maybe lisab will have one she can show you, she breeds for pick n mix hamstery so will know what's on the paper

Re: Standard 'New Owner' NHC form?
They are only used at shows. I dont personally give them out when I rehome. and I dont use the sales table either so dont know what is on the form. So I am no use sorry.
I think If you contact the MHC sec she will have maybe a file she can email for you to print off if you wanted to use one. you will have to make sure it is ok first though

I use the MHC/SHC one as I was given it when I popped some hams on sales, and I haven't had time to write my own for private sales.

Well, these are pedigree babies with a prefix and I'm a full member of the MHC, so I'd think it should be OK! I'm planning to give out a pedigree sheet, the NHC care sheets (to pet buyers at least) and take the owner's details but I'd prefer not to re-invent the wheel in designing my own form for the latter if I don't have to.

I'm pretty sure you can only use the NHC rehoming sheets if you are rehoming through the sales bench at a show. They are used as an official record for the club and so you would not be expected to use them in a private homing.

Re: Standard 'New Owner' NHC form?
Just to update the thread, I contacted Sue Carter at the MHC and explained what I was hoping to do and she has sent me the form to use, so I am all sorted. I have edited it slightly (removed about ten words!) so as not to falsely give the impression that anyone else has healthchecked the hamsters or would be holding the buyers' data when that is not the case in this sale, but otherwise it still seems very appropriate as mostly it is just details of the new pet and a reminder of the buyer's responsibilities to the animal.

Re: Standard 'New Owner' NHC form?
I think it's a great idea to do something similar for private homing.
As some of you know, Akiko was recently mated with CAB's Monty. If there are any babies we don't have immediate homes for, I plan to rehome them with a starter kit including reasonable sized cage (I've been buying up bargain Fantasies and Cambridges), wheel, bottle, bag of Fitch bedding, bag of food and a care sheet including advising that the new owner will need to upgrade cage and wheel as the hamster grows, an undertaking to take them back if the new owner finds they can't keep them etc.
That's if we can bear to part with any!
