Default possible miscarriage

hey guys, some of you know already know my friend and i are going to start a rodentry, and we plan on breeding syrians once they are old enough and we have more knowledge. but onto the main reason i am making this thread.
my friend and i just recently rescued a syrian that seems to be about 2 to 3 months old. we fell in love with her and she was being kept in a dirty 5 gallon tank with 4 other hamsters. when we got her she looked pregnant, she was a bit round in the middle and had her "boobies" showing. well last night she ended up getting out of her cage and we found her this morning and she seemed to have a greenish red discharge around her bottom. we thought she might have given birth to her babies and searched high and low in the small pet room we have her in. but there is no sign of any babies. her nipples have shrunken and she doesn't look pregnant anymore. i am wondering if she possibly had a miscarriage because of the poor conditions and her age or if she gave birth and kulled them all, or if they were all still born and she cleaned them up. what should i do for her? i am doing my best to leave her alone because she seems very angry and upset and i know i don't want to stress her out any more then she already has gotten.

Green doesnt sound good. I think a trip to the vets asap is needed to make sure she is ok.
If she is young, recently moved to a new home changed a lot of things in a short amount of time, she may well of had babys and culled them, Or as you said she has red and green then there could be a serious problem and she needs to be checked out.

It could just be stress related, and nothing to worry about. However, to me, it almost sounds like she might have pyometra, an infection of the womb. It usually happens in female hamsters who are older, usually when they go into "menopause". Yes, hamsters become sterile/infertile when they reach a certain age. Its unknown what causes it, though its commonly thought that the changes in hormone levels may be a trigger.

I would have her checked out by a vet, just to be safe. If it is pyometra, they might prescribe some antibiotics to control the infection, and it might help a little, but its by no means a sure fire cure. The only real way to cure pyometra is with a spay surgery (removal of the whole womb, ovaries and all). It can be done safely, however, a lot of vets hesitate to do so, being that they are unsure of how to preform surgery on such small exotic animals.
