Is Ruby pregnant???
Okay soo got Ruby about a week or so ago and over the past few days she has put on a LOT of weight and when I feel her abdomen it feels kinda bloated, not like a normal hamsters! She seems to be stashing a lot of food next to and close to her nest/bed and drinking a lot! She's been very overactive in the last 2 days, even in the daytime, rushing about and it looks like she's cleaning the cage..? Smoothing sawdust and pushing objects into different places. Today I got home and she's tried to push her WHOLE nest downstairs, but unfortunately it all got stuck in her tube :/ She's exhausted now and fast asleep now.
So the only thing I haven't noticed is protruding nipples from her abdomen?
So I'm worried she might be pregnant? What do you guys think?

Re: Is Ruby pregnant???
it sounds like she could be pregnant, i know certain medical conditions can make them bloated.
i would take her to the vet just to get her checked xxx

Re: Is Ruby pregnant???
I agree, it sounds like she could be pregnant. If she is and you have only had her just over a week, then you shouldn't have too long to wait. If she's a Syrian then gestation is around 15 to 18 days, a bit longer for Dwarfs. There's some great advice in the Hamster Central Wiki, you might want to treat her as a pregnant female just in case:

Re: Is Ruby pregnant???
Thanks guys! One question, if I feel her tummy, should I be able to feel movement from the pups? Will treat her like a pregnant hammie now I think!
