Not sure if this link has worked but there's an advert on Preloved Brenzett Kent for a female Syrian Dwarf Cross. Is this possible.

It isn't possible and it is not a cross either. It is a black banded Syrian and perfectly normal!!!

no it's not. What in earth made them think that?

Only Campbell's/winter whites can be bred. The others are too genetically different.

I saw this ad the other day. It made me laugh at first, then I was sad as people will say anything to sell the hamsters & make money.

If this is a breeder then i feel sorry for the hamsters as they either have no knowledge on breeding or there lying but i don't see why they need to do that? It says 6 weeks old but to me this looks older than that? Has anyone contacted them to inform them that it impossible to breed a syrian and a dwarf and these 2 species should not be put together in the first place?

Hi

Thanks for all the replies, I didn't think it was possible from what I've read but was baffled when read the cross was done several generations ago!. It certainly looks like a Syrian Older than 6 weeks but wanted to check. I haven't contacted the person as I'm too dumbfounded by it, lol and have no idea why they've made such claims.

Was just gonna reply to tell them that but now you have to pay to be a member of preloved?!
She says "all babies so far have been the size of a Syrian with the vocals of the Dwalf" ... What is that supposed to mean?!

I saw this a few days ago and it made me giggle. I'm reading it thinking, So this hamster is the size of a Syrian... its parents were Syrians... and the last few generations were all Syrians....... Do you think maybe, just possibly, that there is a small chance it's a Syrian hamster?

Bless them though the ad does say the alleged dwarf x syrian breeding wasn't done by them so they have obviously been either lied to, conned or some numpty thought one of their hamsters was a dwarf. It's just a shame that the next owner might think the same!

A "dwalf" is a hamster that can grow wings and a horn than fly across the air making rainbows before it dives into the ocean swims to Canada to party with our Polar bears.
