What hut should I use for my Female Syrian for when she has her pups?
Okay, well As I do and sometimes say .. always treat a bred hamster as if she is pregnant
So i looked at my hamster that is 10 days pregnant (If she is pregnant) and she is really pear shaped and has what some people call a "Baby Bump"
I was wondering what one of my hamster huts should I use for my Pregnant hamster on her 14th day of pregnancy when they say clean her cage and take out her wheel, I also like to give them huts for privacy .
Here are my hamster huts, please tell me which one would be good for her having pups in and nursing then in for 3 weeks-
1-
2-
3 (I will make a hut out of these and will post a picture of it later when I make it)-
And..
4-
Thank you. And no posts on "tips" about breeding and don't say "you shouldn't breed" I love my pets and I know a lot about breeding, not every thing but no one does so thanks

Deffinately not the puzzle playground, the ventilation needs to be good.
I would give lots of nestign material , shredded toilet paper and let mom build a nest. Of course don't distrub to look.

That would be a good Idea, but she is in a tank so she kinda has no privacy. If it was a cage they have the pan on the bottoms and that is sorta of privacy. I made the puzzle play ground and that s what I though of too, I am not going to use that one.

just add lots of substrate (liek woodshavings) and she will dig under them and make like a little mound

Re: What hut should I use for my Female Syrian for when she has her pups?
As has been suggested, an 'open' nest is a good option for various reasons. If there are pups, your female will likely make a big nest out of bedding and substrate, so it's nice for her to be able to control the space that takes up.
A slightly less pleasant side of breeding, but often a reality so must be considered, is that not all pups survive. If this happens, should mum not dispose of the pup herself you will need to remove without disturbing the nest and remaining pups at all. This is much easier with an open nest, you can get in quickly with a spoon while mum is out eating so there is no scent. You could look at putting a platform/shelf in so that mum can be underneath but there is still plenty of space.

Thanks. And just if you or anyone was wondering, This is the ONLY time she will be breeding even if she isn't pregnant.
Th next time I breed will be a a new male and female Syrian from breeders (different ones so they aren't related) in a year or more

Well that sounds like a really good idea to me, gives you plenty of time to gather as much knowledge as you possibly can, and find the perfect two hams. Something all of us that breed are constantly doing, no matter how long we've been at it

Re: What hut should I use for my Female Syrian for when she has her pups?
My Syrian was in a tank and I gave her an open nest under a platform. Another option is using a large cardboard box as all of those houses look like they may get cramped with 10+ 3week old Syrians in. For my Chinese who love privacy I use a cardboard box, cut the lid flap off so there is an open end and turn it upside down on the substrate so the open end is on the substrate. I also cut a large door. That way if it is cramped mum can easily gnaw herself a new door unfortunately all did not go well with my Syrian ( A phantom pregnancy and a pyo: breeding's not all fun)
