I also cut a large door. That way if it is cramped mum can easily gnaw herself a new door unfortunately all did not go well with my Syrian ( A phantom pregnancy and a pyo: breeding's not all fun)

It seams like the platform is the best idea. Since its a tank some turtle tanks have a plat form that can stick to that wall would that work? Or would a homemade one work? OR (haha) Is their any ones you think are good?
Thanks

I'd say #1 as it looks bigger than the others... She'll have more room to get by and won't step on the babies... =) But that's just my point of view !

Mine have always had open nests or a shelf above them, just because if there are a lot of babies (there can be up to 20), when they start growing they will need more and more space, and will need ventilation.

My tank has a glass shelf which was added permanently using aquarium sealant by the previous owner. I've been reluctant to use the magnaturals ledges (like those found in turtle tanks and my gecko and harvest mouse tanks) for a Syrian as they are only polystyrene and Syrians do chew so much. obviously, if you do choose to add a platform/shelf, food and water should not be out on it as babies would struggle to get up there when young.
