You were definetly right to ask
And most of us've never seen baby hamsters, I was lucky enough to see early photo-glimpses of a friends litter recently but thats the closest I've got. If you're happy to see baby hamster photos there're loads of threads in the breeding section for you to see photos of babies with their eyes open (babies younger than that aren't allowed to be shown on the forum).

It was better you asked than doing something irresposible. Like others have said before me you really should do more research before even considering it. In future I hope to breed hamsters but first I know I have to do my research Don't just breed them for the sake of it, I think thats whats somepeople are trying to say.

Everyone on here is passionate about hamsters and hate the thought of them being born into the world irresponsibley.

You're not stupid and we're glad you asked. No one is angry. We are very glad that you've joined this forum and have brought up your thoughts. I don't think you should be embarrassed. You aren't irresponsible of course! No one is saying that you are.

If you want the thread deleted, you can message a moderator and they can close it down for you. Suga is one. But don't leave the forum! We all want to see Minky and are glad that you're here.

No I don't mean to say you were, more that people were worried that you would do that, cos you're new, we don't know you and there are plenty of posts we've had where people have done stuff that shouldn't have done and wanted to make sure you wouldn't not saying that you were but just in case.

Don't worry about it. If you ask a mod they can delete it but its really not a big deal.
No-one minds that you asked at all, ok?
I honestly don't think badly of you for it and doubt anyone else will either.

mmm - you haven't upset the forum members. There's lots of passion for hamsters here and you will see when you read through some of the previous threads that there is a lot of experience with breeding. We have a huge range of hamster births here, from planned litters, to unknown pregnancies and mistakes. Each thread created allows us all to learn something new and sometimes the outcome isn't as happy as initially thought. The responses you are getting from the forum are to give you as much information as we can and to point you in the right direction for where additional information can be found.

By asking your questions you can make an informed decision - you wouldn't start a family yourself without considering it carefully and to me this is the same as a family group would be created.

Your certainly not stupid..... because you've started to ask before going ahead.

Minky, please calm down. No one here thinks any worse of you for asking. Better that you ask and find out rather than go ahead and end up stuck. Just for asking you have gained respect rather than hostility.

I have never sen true baby hamsters, and I have kept them for 20 years. I understand that you would want to breed your hams, to see the babies and watch them grow up. It must be a magical thing. I have never done it.

But please understand that many members on this forum rescue hams which are unloved and unwanted. hamsters can have large litters, and the concern is what if you cannot home them all? Also, breeding incompatible colours can produce Furless and eyeless babies, or far worse.

Please don't be offended by comments, because no one on this forum wants to hurt you. PM me if you want to talk

I just want to echo what everyone else has said, really.

It was quite right to ask as you are now better informed and whatever decision you make will be based on sound reasoning rather than emotion. And no-one would get upset with someone who asks questions in a genuine spirit of enquiry.

You are very welcome here Looking forward to getting to know you and Minky better xx
