While some of the information is correct in that article, much of it is very wrong! Some parts of it are wrong to the point of losing pups- too young a handling age, weaning age and dishes of milk or water. This was written by a novice breeder, not an experienced one. It just reminds me that it's one of the things on my ever growing to-do list. I wouldn't give this article to your friend at all, the bad information is very bad. Instead, give them a copy of Peter Logsdail's book

As far as your second question about the female not conceiving, she is now past breeding age. Females become infertile around a year old. She needs to stop being mated on the off chance that she does conceive as it would be risky to her health to carry a litter at this point, it would be like a 60 year old human becoming pregnant. The breeding range for a female is 4-12 months. Once you factor in time off between litters, you can only get 2-3 litters out of a female, any more than that and you're not breeding with the hamster's best interest's in mind.
