Gosh - it's amazing what you can learn on a hamster forum, isn't it :P
It's great to hear from those of you "in the know".....I'm reading and re-reading all my books but I'm definitely getting far more tips from you guys

How is Berry now, Basia - any signs or is it way too early??
I'm a little twitched about tomorrow - although, after getting Paws out tonight and seeing how friendly and beautiful he is I just know he'll have gorgeous babies

Hi Holly, I think Paws looks gorgeous too, I think he will make a lovely Dad. I am sure that everything will go absolutely fine for you tomorrow.
Berry has been behaving differently since the day after I mated her, which seemed awfully soon but I suppose if the whole pregnancy is just 16 days, 1 day is a lot. She doesn't want to come out to play although she comes to see me and is happy to be stroked and talked to in her cage. She is sleeping most of the time, day and night and will not leave any food out in the cage, it is all stashed away under her shelf. I am hoping that these are all positive signs. I have been giving her a little something extra every day and will increase that next week if she looks as if she is definitely pregnant. I will be interested to hear how Caramel is immediately after you have mated her.

Well our deed is done as well (I need a stiff drink now) and both Paws and Caramel are back in their cages. They've both spent a while washing - paws is now having dinner while Caramel has gone into her bed. I'll be watching her behaviour to see how she is over the next few days.
One thing - when should I take away her wheel?

Is she a wheel addict Holly? If not we didn't take ours away until the week before the due date. Princess was an exercise addict (freak - what's all that about! ) so we took it away nearly straight away and just let her have runs in her exercise ball so we could control how long she was in it.

Well done Holly, I know what you mean about the stiff drink. Exciting though.
Berry still has her wheel, I was going to leave it in until next weekend.

Come on then Basia and Holly? Enquiring minds need to know how your girls are? Any changes yet?
Don't worry too much if the answer is no real physical changes - with Bramble we weren't sure until about 4 days before she gave birth when suddenly she looked like she's swallowed a ping pong ball!

That's interesting because I am convinced Berry is not pregnant because she doesn't look any different. By my reckoning the babies should be born next Sat/Sun. She went very quiet the first few days and is making huge nests but is now wanting to come out to play for a while, so who knows? Watch this space....
