OK, so...mr nibbles and taffy mated betwen 12AM-2AM on 9/10/10....they mated many many many times in those two hours so I have high hopes that she got pregnant...she came out for some water a few minutes ago (after spending all night creating a mountain of a nest) and...i took some pics, does she look pregnant to any of you? please help me out, this is all new to me!

Yes she is and it looks like a large litter. She will be due very soon and sometimes such havily pregnant hamsters will have their pups a little early.
Is that fluffy bedding? Get rid of the lot right now if it is. It can be fatal to pups as it tangles around limbs and necks. It is also unsuitable for adults as they can swallow it and cause a blockage.
So clean now and give ripped white loo roll. No small bed houses as that litter will not fit in one. A Large cardboard box or a shelf over a corner is perfect. No more photos or handling now and leave her very strictly alone.

:O didn't notice the fluff bedding - especially with babies arriveing i'd really qwuickly change it before they arrive, it can get tangled in them :S especially as ur supposed to leave them be until their eyes open

if i were u i'd try j-cloth or that tissue type stuff

yep get rid of fluffy bedding its not good for the pups or the Mum plus she looks Huge like what misty was so there a good chance maybe she could have about 9. i hope ur ready for this : ]

i got rid of all the fluff...she seemed excited to see me, ive been leaving her be...she was trying desperately to climb up my arm and GET OUT lol. a hint she'd rather give birth somewhere else? LOL. she's eating like a PIGLET i'm not kidding...i've got two food bowwls going for her...and she's drinking plenty (when she's not climbing the bottle trying to get out). i took out her wheel and her teeny tiny just big enough for her house. is it ok that i left in her ware broomstick? she pretty much ignores it anyway except for to occasionally chew on it. all i had kleenex I hope that will do? i shredded lots of it in small strips for her...she plopped herself in the middle of it and passed out almost immediately...she's been really frantic all day trying to escape and all. i moved her cage to a darker, very quiet place where she can be alone..im so nervous for her!! it's such a strange amazing feeling..well, ive bought a bunch of sam cages off ebay and crittertrails and have a long list of family and friends wanting babies (assuming i'm willing to part). i'm so excited!!

btw! its called bed-e-bye fluff or something, i ordered it off petsmart because it looked nice and soft! i had no idea it could be dangerous...id also ordered something called grassy goodnight but ill toss that now too!

They shouln't sell that stuff. So many hammies have died with it. It does look nice and comfy but glad you know now.
Give her a HUGE heap of cheap plain white ripped up loo roll in one corner to make a big nest in. Sometimes we cover one side of the cage with a big cardboard box fitted over it so that is is quiet there.
She will be frantic as she needs to rebuild her nest. Sometimes they will have babies all over the place if they are stressed but she will collect them up again. Never touch them or the nest.

My guess is 12-14 babies but it is best not to count them then you don't stress over any that vanish. Mother always knows best and some may not survive. That is why they have so many. It is natures way.
