i gave her some egg...she was very pleased...she got in her food bowl, pouched it all and took it back to sit on her babies and eat...she ate it all. she seemed toreally enjoyit. whileshe went and gotthe egg, i counted at least eight babies...i beleive there maybe more under the nest...so hard to tell when theyre squriming in a pile lol. she's in a dark quiet place now with a towel and her water bottle was moved..she was slightly bugged but as soonas i was done she went and got more paper and covered herself and the pups...and fell asleep.. ive heard no squeaks though, is this normal? imean, perhaps ive just missed it? i was gone for a few hours and wasn't awake when they were born.

hope the next few weeks passquickly..i want to know that mom and babes are fine and healthy. im still so nervous, infact...more so now.

Content babies do not squeak that much. It is more like a grating small bird chirp really and they do it most when mama leaves them and returns. I think they are saying don't take my milk and 'yay the milk bar is back' lol.
If she is covering them that means she is feeling protective so that is a signal to you to leave her quiet
Just watch with a towel because a towel over a barred cage is often chewed and dragged in and this can cause the same troubles with the fibres as fluffy bedding. This is why we use a cardboard box!

i moved her from her bar cage to an aquarium to give birth.. i felt it'd be quieter/draft free..she has a lid on her cage but its ..like, steel...and the holes are too tiny for her to pull it in ..im so excited! im so proud of her hehe! well, im glad then if it's normal to not squeak much i knew she was feeling very protective, so i wished her good luck quietly and have left her alone since..other then to feed/water i will just let her in peace and quiet and do what she's gotta do!

Definintely leave her to it. Don't get involved Mum knows best. Glad that the fluffy bedding is removed so mum and babies don't have risk of any injury.

well, the towel is only over the bit of the cage wehre the nest is...it makes it EVEN darker and quieter...plenty of room for air to circulate for her but enough covered for privacy reasons. i did lift her lid off earlier when she was on HER BACK chewing trying to get out. i got her out and shesat real pretty and began licking my fingers...i think she's confused, lol. i gave her some broccoli and egg and she filled up and happily went back in and coverded herself and her babes up and began nursing them..she seemscalm even though i live in what you should say...a slightly emotinally abusive LOUD household...she's doing her best and im doing my best to give her all i can. she's thriving i think..im praying like mad nonstop for her. and hope that she can make it through and her babies can grow big and strong

btw i didnt intentionally get her out....she was about to fall from the lid cage to the bottom...i laid my hand under her and she ran up my arem and began licking my fingers and face...i think she simply wanted more 'people food' before she went back to her mommy duties. i really am trying so hard everyone...it's hard when ur not in the happiest of households.
