strange habit, could there be a reason?
So as you know my boyfriends hamster is staying with me for a while, sally's taken to sticking the whole of the water bottle spout into her mouth, it looks quite alarming as she's so little, and I don't want her to hurt herself. I think she is managing to get water out of it so I'm at a bit of loss on how to discourage her. Does anybody have any ideas about why she does it and how we can stop her?

Not so much as to stop her, you could try giving her a bowl of water instead.

is her water bottle quite low down.. could you move it higher so she would be more standing or would she hang from it?
or as princess rhi89 said try a water bowl.

Re: strange habit, could there be a reason?
one of mine used to do this - i have no idea why.
I moved the water bottle higher but didnt stop him doing it.
You can get bottles which hang from the top of the cage, they cant get eough grip on these to do this with maybe worth looking in to that.
I did find thou that after a while mine didnt do it so much and then not at all
