Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
I have so many hammies in my room, I know the feeling more than anything. I usually pat their noses through the bars which makes them stop until I can get asleep at least!

Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
Cambridge is really a good cage so dont feel too bad if you move her back. I think making a bin cage would totally be worth it...

Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
Roboticnat - Have a look at How to make your own bin cage, or just type in bin cages in google. Good places to by the tubs from are ikea, pound shops, wilkinson, B&q
Rhi - I am so sorry to hear this, you really do sound like you are at the end of your teather. Phoebe has started chewing too since I moved her to the zoozone 2. She has a ramp and hanging toys that I can remove so that she cannot reach the bars but then she will start chewing the water bottle nozzle!!! Gah!!! I to have thought 'I am starting to actually hate my hamster' and 'I wish I got a boy'. And where is the nearest adoption centre!!!!!! Especially at 4am!!!
Are you sure that bin cages are not an option?? The really usefull boxes have locking lids that I'm pretty sure a cat couldnt get open. WHat about longer out time?? Phoebe has to have about 1hr - 1 and half hours a night to keep her calm (and me able to sleep!)Apart from a 'tank' types cage, either plastic, or glass, I dont know what to suggest as it certainly isnt bordem or anything that you are doing. She is just being a little madam. I hope that putting her back in the cambridge helps. x x

Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
Boys are known for being generally calmer and more easy going - girls are a bit more inquisitve (sp?) and into everything - there are always exeptions to the rule though!

Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
I think she may be a reincarnation of the devil lol.
Like the song ' Looks like an angel, walks like an angel, but shes the devil in disguise' lol
Seriously thinking about making a bin cage now I could put it on top of the HH so the cats definately couldnt get her, and making the bin carrier was quite easy.
Ive had 4 girls now and they have all been bar chewers but nothing near as bad as this.
I have depression so have trouble sleeping anyway and she isnt helping lol I just wish there was an easy solution she doesnt understand when I say no and just bites more if i tap her nose of the bars near where shes biting.
Right Im off out to try and buy a cheap bin, Ive got the wire from the bin carrier so hopefully by tonight she will have a new bin lol xx

Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
i know Rhi mentioned against the bin cage becaus eyou felt it was unsafe with having cats.
But i think a bin cage with a lid is just as safe as any otehr plastoic cage
Other than that you could offer someone to buy the hamster heaven for full price (which was cheaper than normal price anyway) in order to get funds for a plastic cage.
Although you could equally have bar chewing problems with cages like the duna multy if she can reach!
I'm worried Maisie could injure herself with her habits, so i hope we can sort it x

Re: Shes driving me crazy!!!!
Right I think I may have solved it *fingers crossed* After looking around for a bin big enough, I found a piece of perspex 4ft by 4ft for £12 instead of £26, so after working out how much the bin would cost with bolts etc, the perspex worked out cheaper, so I have dipped into the overdraft again lol and have perspexed the whole cage except the top so there is still plenty of air for her. So only tonight will tell but I think I may have solved it, so not she has the lack of bars of a plastic cage and all the perks of the HH
And hopefully now her nose fur will grow back and she wont end up breaking any teeth xxxx
