New hamster no sign??
Hello sorry to bother you this is my first post. About three weeks ago I believe I picked up my hamster from a petshop and he is young as they stated, I let him settle in for the first week and sat in the room a few times and he was out quite a bit. A few days after that he didn't come out for awnile which worried me so I checked on him for him to screech which I was glad he was okay but did stress him out. After that I gave him more time alone which he did come out in the late hours of the morning a few times however, starting last Friday I believe I scattered food out for him and its been like that since and nothings been touched, I did have a camera in the corner by him not too close and there was no activity and it's been like this since. Should I check on him again as I'm so worried that he's not okay. Kind regards Emily

You definitely need to check him if no food is touched. I don't personally use deep bedding for babies until they are tame as there is no way to access them to do health checks and start the taming process. I hope he is Ok

Re: New hamster no sign??
Thank you for your reply, sorry sent a couple replies earlier but I think I pressed the wrong button and posted something somewhere. But I checked on him earlier today and was quite anxious and unfortunately he was gone it must of been a couple days ago I'm not sure what went wrong, but I won't go to the same place again if that were the case.

Re: New hamster no sign??
I'm so sorry to hear this. Sometimes we never know the cause but it was likely he was born with some small defect, maybe in the heart, that gave out as he got older.
You didn't do anything wrong. Run free little one.
