Default Hamster suddenly biting!

My hamster, Mint, is a dwarf hamster, most likely a hybrid. Since I got her, she has been spinning in circles. She has no head tilt, and she sometimes stops running in circles to go do something else, but she will go run in circles later. For example, she might be running, then go eat some food, do a very small spin, eat more, then go run more circles. Since there are no signs of an ear infection other than the circling, I assume it’s a neurological disorder. She also only figured out how to run on the wheel a month or two after I got her, and even then it’s rare for me to even catch her even just walking on it. She used to roll on it a bit. She usually has always just run circles around the cage instead.

I adopted her with her sister and separated them soon after. Her sister doesn’t do any of these abnormal things.

Also, she has a 2 x 4 foot cage and a 9.5 inch wheel, so I don’t think either of those are the problem.

Mint didn’t mind me holding her and was fine with human interaction. However, a day or two ago, she started biting my finger whenever I put it into the cage. Wherever I start to move my hand in the cage, she follows it and stands on her hind legs to try to bite it as I lower it into the cage, even if I’m just putting some seeds in. Then, she latches on. If I keep my finger there long enough for her to dig her teeth in, she will draw blood. She also seems more frantic. Also, if I start to lower other objects into the cage, she grabs onto it with her paws and bites it as well.

I read a few other posts about hamsters with similar issues, so I tried taking Mint out of the cage with a box and putting her in a playpen like another post suggested. In the playpen, she didn’t pay much attention to my hand and didn’t really care if I touched her. I didn’t try to pick her up since she was biting in the cage. She seemed really stressed in the pen and was running in circles through a tunnel really fast without stopping, so I put her back in her cage. In the cage, she wasn’t quite as obsessed with biting me but she still tried if I put my finger close to her.

Her cage is due to be cleaned, so I will do that tomorrow. Maybe that will help, but a cage that is ready to be cleaned has never affected her like this before, so I don’t know if that really plays a role.

I have heard a bit about hamsters in heat being aggressive; could this be a cause? Or what else? What should I do? I really miss picking her up.

Thank you
