Default Hamster not been up, need advice.

Hi, I am a first time hamster owner, so I might be worried over nothing, but I haven't seen my hamster since to went back to her burrows at 10pm on Hogmanay. It beens about 38 hours now and food and water has not been touched. She is about 3-4 months old, and this is the first time she's not come up in a full day. Originally I had a playpen, but I rearranged it to allow larger free raom area around the living room. On NYE I let her try it out for the first time, could this of caused any stress on her? Is it normal for hamsters to randomly burrow for a day and half (so far) without coming out? Thank you. ....update: She's finally up and about. Seems ok. But I am wondering why she never came up for a whole day.

when you get a new hamster, it is very normal for them to hide and come out very rarely for the first couple of days until they become accustomed to their surroundings.
Due to them being nockternal, it will be even harder to see them as I find that most hamsters generally come out and are most active at midnight through to 3 am.
I do recommend for the first couple of days that you leave him/her to it's own devices. Try to make sure you talk and move around the cage after a couple of days so your hamster can become accustomed to having you in its presence. Once you feel your hamster is feeling more comfortable trying feeding her/him and build on it from there.
I have adopted about 3 hamsters over the years who were all very nervous and shy; patience and care is key.

hope this helps.
However, if you still feel nervous just keep a close eye on it and seek a proffesional for help if necessary.

Thank you, @LillyBet. I have had her for about 3 months now which was why I worried, cause she always comes up for food and water, and it was the first time in a whole day she didn't touch nothing. But she is fine now, I just hope it was a one off and maybe she was not feeling that well. She has already been in playpens etc and is Ok with me feeding her, but maybe that first time of expanding her free roam area tired her out completely lol. Although she's now familiar with the area she is going straight for the plastic, wanting to chew her way out
