Ah right. To me it looks like Rodipet wants to make another sale. I wouldn't have thought that 17.6% of protein needs more but i'm no expert on nutrition.

My Syrians prefer Harry Hamster to Rodipet and Bunny Dreams because they like the chunky texture. There are no mealworms or insects in that food and it is a complete mix.

I have four Syrians, two like mealworms and two don't. I give the ones who like them a couple daily but they all get a pinch of brown linseeds which is good for their fur and fresh food of course.

I just checked. The protein in Harry Hamster is 18%.
The protein in the Rodipet Syrian junior seems low in comparison at 14.9%.

How very odd.

I have been using Harry Hamster as it was what I assumed Neptr was on before coming into my care (I was shown a little bucket of their food, which did look the part).

My only issue is despite Harry Hamster meeting the nutritional percentages, I am not fond of the ingredients. I just don't think there's enough diversity in it, despite it being a sound hamster food. Because it is mostly peas, corn and pellets, I am not majorly fond of it. Opening up the rodipet food, you can tell that it is already much more diverse than Harry the Hamster.

Oh yes, the continental mixes have a different texture and herbs, flowers etc as well. My dwarfs eat the Bunny Dreams. I bought the Syrian mix as well and mix some into their Harry Hamster.....then watch them munch on a piece of HH. Nobody eats the peas though, not even Jack.

I asked Rodipet once why there were different foods for long-haired Syrians and they said it was because they ingest more hair when grooming and need more fibre to pass it. But I wouldn't have thought 1% more fibre makes much difference, and it doesn't explain the extra protein.

I think some people use the Teddy mixes for Syrians who don't like dried insects, which many of them don't. Apart from insects you can also feed egg (hard boiled or scrambled) or boiled chicken for extra protein.

I'd be interested to hear how your hamster likes the Teddy mix as it has lot of tiny seeds such as millet, sesame, clover, camelina, amaranth and so on that it seems a Syrian might not be very interested in.

I want to know too! There's not a massive amount of options for small pet food near me apart from harry hamster. I went to my local pet store and they had a generalised small pet food for 'all' small rodents. And then there were pellets at Wilko's.
