Default Out of Cage Playtime

Hi! Can anyone recommend any heavy weight playpens that my little Dairy wonít be able to escape from, or can anyone recommend any good ways to hamster proof a room? Just trying to give her the best out of cage enrichment! I'm in the UK! The room in general is pretty safe, I just need to block some places off, whether they be gaps under beds, or just a little bit that I donít want her to access. Any advice? Thanks!!

Do you have a hall or landing? I use ours with the doors closed and stairs blocked off but also push a towel under the gap between door and carpet where needed. Makes an ideal freeroaming area with a blanket, lots of big toys, wheel and cardboard boxes down.

I have hamster proofed the spare room as well by literally checking every inch of it for holes in the floor boards, wallsetc and check it from time to time. Cables are off the ground, sockets switched off and i watch them while enjoying out of cage time.

I can't recommend a playpen because our lot doesn't like them but i do know that the wire panel ones are a waste of money.

Oh great, thank you! I have her in my bedroom, so I have a gap under my bed which I don't want her to get under, and just some other places that wouldn't be great if she got there, so how would you block them? I've got a good amount of space, it's just about cutting off access to some of the places!

I use funnoodles (the long pool noodles, sorry I'm not sure if they have another name) for vertical gaps as they can be cut to size. You just have to watch and make sure you hamster doesn't chew them. For a large gap under a bed a cardboard box cut in two lengthwise then unfolded works in a pinch. The pool noodles also can be used for the gap under doors if they fit, though I recommend towels.
