Exclamation Is this normal behaviour?

Hello fellow hamster lovers I hope you all have a wonderful day so far.

I've got my Syrian hamster for almost a week now. He is from a local pet shop and I think he is around 3-4 months old. I haven't picked him up yet, only hand fed him. I am still working on the taming process.

I know he can be jumpy due to the fact he is still getting used to the cage and all but today my pet cam picked something odd in his behavior. I've attached a link bellow so you can tell me what do you think.

He looks like he just woken up and drinking water when all of a sudden he does a backflip in the air and acts like it is normal. Is this a chance of neurological problems? I highly hope not as I don't think there is much I can do about this except to give him the best care I can, which I am doing.

Thank you so much!

I think he just got startled by something and jumped. They can get spooked by things we are not even aware of. A week is very early days and he is still settling in so may be a bit jumpy anyway. I have seen similar behaviours with our hamsters.

I wouldn't worry at this stage. Obviously, if it happens on a regular base or he is at risk of hurting himself then there may be reason for concern.
