Default Mating hamster?

I donít know how to politely write the title 😂 just I have a question which I donít think is harmful behaviour at all but I never saw daf-daf do it once, and Mitzi maybe does it once a week?

So I believe itís the stance they take when theyíre ready to mate, I donít have any clear photos of it unfortunately but apparently when a male presses a females back at a certain point it makes them almost paralysed and her little tail sticks up.

I just want to know is it unusual to do it this often? I normally just gently stroke her as she comes out the cage and she sometimes does this, I donít do it intentionally but just knowing how easily female reproductive parts can become infected Iím wondering if sheís over producing or something. Also is there a way to reduce the effect of this, since I read up it makes them vulnerable to predators this stance and I worry it causes her stress when it happens.

I wouldn't worry. It's just a natural thing for female hamster to do. They go into heat every four days i believe.

I had a female foster Syrian once who run around the room squeaking. I thought that she was just happy but turned out that the squeaks were mating calls that drove my boys crazy.
Took weeks for Rory to calm down again and i was glad when i found her a forever home.

I guess Iím lucky thereís no male hamsters in the house then I dread to think of the commotion it caused you! I donít think she does it every four days, less regularly than that so maybe itís just after some she mightíve had a Ďbad heatí if that makes sense.

Just strange Mitzi does it so much and daf-dad never did but I guess itís just another way hamsters can differ from one another.

yes, it's every 4 days. my female syrian Moonbeam is the most sensitive little girl I have had, I can't pick her up without her freezing and the tail up in the air when she is in heat.
