Question Only pees in her bed!

Hi all - I have a 11 week old Syrian called Poppy. I'm asking about toilet habits please. She does not seem to use any other area of her cage for toilet except in her bed (I had a good look/sniff (!) when I changed her over to a new cage yesterday.) I had to throw away her wooden hut yesterday as it had soaked in the wood and stank. I got a new one today which I am in the process of plasti coating first. However, it seems odd to me that she would sleep, pee and food store all in one place. Is there any way I could encourage her to pee elsewhere? I read you can use a jam jar on it's side with a little bedding in as a loo, but I'm guessing that has to be placed where they normally pee? Any ideas please?

We have had her for 3 weeks and although she is settling fairly well, training is slow as she thinks my fingers are food and bit me really hard 2 weeks ago (did a test mouthing then sank teeth in second go, did not run away so I genuinely think she gets confused.) Lots of blood from it so I am nervous. Lots of scented tissue happening still!

Hi and welcome to HC!

She's still young and may well grow out of it.

One of my Syrians pees inside his house so i put a corner toilet in his peeing corner which he uses. He also chucks some of his hoard on and then pees on it but that's ok because i can lift the stinky toilet out and put a clean one in as and when needed.

I find that they are more likely to use an open corner toilet than an enclosed jar. You could put some peed on substrate in the toilet filled with substrate or sand (not litter) to give her the idea.

A Syrian needs a big house with enough space for a nest, a hoard and a toilet corner.

Thank you. I put her into a new cage on Friday so I moved her in via a long water bottle box (she went in of her own accord as she is not tame yet, and I could move her in it) which she is currently still sleeping in. I want to take that out now as it smells bad and I know she will be peeing in it. Can I take it out and put some of the bedding and some food hoard from inside it into the new house I bought? She is quite jumpy and I feel bad as the new cage I put her in is still too small and I am waiting on a Savic Plaza. I'm hating keep moving and disturbing things as she is quite jumpy still, but the box is taking up lots of floor space as well as getting smelly.

Yes that sounds like a good plan to move some of the bedding and hoard into the new house and then remove the smelly box.
I would leave her to settle for a few days.
