Thumbs down hamster chewing bin cage

i adopted a female syrian around the start of july and im not sure exactly how old she is but i think shes a couple months . recently i upgraded her to a bin cage, the biggest one i could find and afford, because she'd been chewing on her bar cage. however for some reason i just cant get her to stop chewing on it. shes really driving me mad , keeping me up and night and waking me up when i do finally manage to sleep. not only is it affecting me but im worried it could cause teeth problems for her . she chews on the inside of the lid in the corners where the plastic kind of portrudes inwards, so i removed some bedding in those corners so she cant get to them , and then she resorted to digging to the bottom of the cage and just scraping her teeth against the corner. ive tried lodging things between the lid and the cage but obviously she chews through it . i cant keep her in another room because of the dog . ive given her all the toys i possibly can right now and i take her out every day so she can run around my room.. i cant afford to buy a bigger cage . i feel like ive tried everything but im just at a loss im losing sleep and its driving me up the walls

The cage is too small .
Don't worry about it. I'm learning the same way you are, unfortunately, but you do need a new cage.

It may be a good idea to look into getting a second hand aquarium that's at least 100cmx50cm. You'd need to make a meshed lid but you've already converted a plastic box into a hamster bin cage which needs meshing the lid so that shouldn't be a problem.
Keep looking in the free ads because sometimes glass tanks come up really cheap or even free.

In the meantime, i'd try giving her lots of cardboard to chew and place cardboard in the areas she chews as well.
