Default Hamster constantly trying to escape everything!

Hi, I am at my wits end trying to figure out how to handle my hamster.

She has a 100cm x 50cm cage as this was the biggest I could find. Every night and day she chews on the bars and climbs them. I get her out multiple times a day but however big of a space I give her to run around (whole rooms) she just goes straight to the corners and tries to dig or climb out of the room.

I am very worried because I have read this to be a sign of stress but I give her lots to do and lots of space to roam and she doesn't seem to like anything.

For backstory, I adopted her about four months ago but I have no idea about her previous home. I have had lots of hamsters and other small pets over the years and never had this issue to this extent.

Any suggestions would be very very helpful as I am so worried.
Thank you

Is your ham a Syrian? If so, I understand that some can be very hard to please space-wise. Does she have enough entertainment and enrichment in her cage and the room you let her free-roam in? My dwarf sometimes chewed bars in her playpen, but then we started giving her a collection of long tubes, and now when she's in the playpen that's all she's bothered about doing. It might just be that your ham is an explorer at heart. I wonder if you could put some hanging toys or similar in the corners of her cage to distract her a bit?

Like Petite says I am guessing you have a female syrian. They notoriously will try to escape anywhere, even when free roaming.
I found with my crazy ladies I used to try and block areas off with more entertaining things such as hides to try and distract them, and if they won't chew it, I use to put fleece blankets so they got distracted in them and burrow in them.

Thank you for your reply

Yes she is a Syrian. She has a wheel, lots to climb and chew, areas for digging and i scatter feed. The last couple of times I have had her out I have put enrichment out in the room and she completely ignores it and instead chews my carpet.

I have got one hanging toy but i will add some more in the places she climbs the most. I have another female Syrian who is also quite a handful but not as bad with bar chewing and does not climb. My male Syrian was the most easy to please hamster ever so this is quite a step up!

Thank you for all your suggestions, I really appreciate it

Yes she is a female Syrian I am glad to know that this isn't just a problem with mine.

Blankets is a good idea, thank you! Maybe it will distract her from ruining all the carpets in my house!
