Default Trying to Climb Walls of Bin

*Please excuse hamster wheel, it's temporary. The original one is being repaired*
Hamilton has a large totem bin as his habitat, but he keeps trying to climb up the walls. What else can I put in his bin (picture of current layout included with post)?

If it was me I would be filling the space up with tunnels/hides - you don't have to buy things, you can reuse cardboard boxes or tubes. Anything that he can run through, over and tunnel under. Make it like a mini obstacle course, then you could scatter feed in amongst it, if you don't already and chuck in a few toilet roll boredom breakers every now and then.
in case you don't know what I mean - something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQNJ...2&index=3&t=2s

I also can't see where he sleeps, you could also use a shoe box for that, take the lid off, turn it upside down. so it has no floor and cut a door way into it.

It's far too bare and he must be feeling very exposed so tries to get out. No where to hide!

Just follow Luna's advice and you'll have a happy hamster.
The long Trixie bendy bridges are great for tanks and bins too because they don't need to be attached and a coconut hut is one of me hamster's favourite hide.

Here's my Robo's tank with two bendy bridges to run over and under.

Hamilton is bald so wouldn't soft paperbased substrate like Kaytee c&c be more suitable than wood chips? Just a thought.

Eh, just had a brief read on hairless hammies after looking at your Hamilton. Ria is right, a paper based substrate would be better for hairless hammies as wood shavings are more abrasive.

Looks like he has a really beautiful bin cage, but I totally agree with Luna and Ria that giving Hamilton lots of huge hidey places would help, as he may feel kinda exposed now in the empty space.

Also, I noticed that you drilled some holes at the side of the bin (near the top) for ventilation. Would it be possible for you to look into meshing the entire sides of the bin cage instead? Hamsters would appreciate fresh air flowing in at "hamster-level", the air doesn't really flow that well at the bottom part of the cage otherwise. These storage boxes are lovely things (I have one too), but they do get very stuffy at the bottom, especially if you close the lid. Maybe he's just trying to get to the holes to breathe in more fresh air.

10Minutes how would I go about meshing the sides without Ham chewing on the plastic? I'm down for it, but I'm worried about him escaping.
