Why has she built a random new nest?
So my Russian dwarf has been going under her platform to sleep since I bought her home (Ive only had her for 5 days) but tonight she has made a new nest behind her flying saucer wheel. Just wondered if anyone knew what has triggered the change in bed location?? X

Re: Why has she built a random new nest?
It might be her first proper nest. It can take them a while to find a place they want to nest when you first bring them home. Behind wheels seems to be a favourite spot - they seem to feel safe there. Make sure she’s got a nice sized house that she can use anyway, that’s dark enough inside.

I agree with mangoandmimi. Hams sometimes have multiple nest for hoarding food and sleeping.

Re: Why has she built a random new nest?
i've found my robo will nest somewhere new if he's disturbed too often, or if he becomes stressed (this usually happens when he as to go to the vet...)
that said however, having a few preferred places to nest really isn't a big deal.

Re: Why has she built a random new nest?
Thanks for replies she's gone back to her usual big sleeping area now, she only did it for that one occasion. I did notice her eating food in there though so maybe it was for food hoarding reasons.
I don't think (And hope) its not because she's stressed. She's never disturbed when sleeping and her cage is in a quiet area of house now x
