Default Progress on training

Rosie has been with us for 3 weeks now and she has calmed down so much. She is still jumpy and seems to cringe when you stroke her sometimes. She is very picky about when she wants attention. She will walk onto your hand and take food from it too. She doesn't mind being scooped up to come out of her cage for a run around, but when she's busy and doesn't want to be picked up she will do her utmost to jump out of your hand.
Its strange starting over again with a new hamster as our lovely Bertie was so loveable and a real softie when it came to cuddles. My daughter is worried that Rosie won't be like Bertie and I've tried to explain that she isn't Bertie and may never be like him either. I hope that Rosie does calm down and likes cuddles eventually.

I'm sure that given time and lots of handling eventually Rosie will be more relaxed for a snuggle. Some hamster's just don't end up being the snuggle type though. As she is still young she will continue to be jumpy for a bit - but as she gets a little older she will become content to have a snuggle while munching on a treat

We've had Peanut since 27th December, and he has just recently climbing into my hand and scurrying up my arm when I offer him it! But only when he wants too, and it's normally when I'm just about to go to bed and popping in to give him a goodnight peck!!

He can be equally fussy though and will turn his back to me if he's busy sorting and tidying!

Give it time. Each ham is unique, like you say

Thought I'd give you an update on Rosie's training.
She's calmed down a lot now although still very jumpy. She is now getting on my hand and I lift her up to cuddle. She is still very hyper, but she's still young and there's still a way to go yet. She's much more independant than Bertie was and still only wants to be touched when she's ready.
