Do hamsters like the cold?

It's super windy tonight, so my house is colder than usual, and I thought my hamster would want to stay safe and warm inside his cage, but when I went to check on him tonight, he seemed more adventurous than usual. The sound of the wind didn't seem to scare him like it usually does. He actually came out of his cage and was gravitating toward the wind and the colder side of the room. Is that weird? Do hamsters have a higher tolerance for cold?

Hamsters don't have cold tolerance no, it may be just a coincidence or it could have been the noise but whatever the reason your ham was more active won't have been due to him liking the cold!
It is important you keep the room warm, around 18-20 C is best for syrians.
If they get too cold they can go into torpor which can kill them.

That's what I thought. He has extra bedding and nesting material, and I moved him away from the cold and put a fleece blanket over his cage. I just thought it was weird that he was so active. He's usually more anxious on nights like this and will hide in his cage.

Sometimes when they're a bit stressed it comes out as extra activity or manic wheel running. Or maybe he just thought it was a really interesting noise!
