Default temporary hamster freakout

It was my intent to attach a video or .gif or pic but I guess my phone takes better videos and pics than this website is allowed to handle.
so my problem:

my female Syrian hamster, I was letting her free roam in an area of my bedroom. in the corner is her old cage, bars folded up and collapsed laying on top (made the switch to a storage bin twoish days ago. she found the cage and started showing a lot of interest in it so I removed the bars and let her climb into it. which she then would jet for a wall and while pushing herself into the wall the whole time would run along the wall, get to the end of that wall and run to a different wall. I know it wasn't that she wanted out because the first time she did it I pulled her out (which she immediately tried to shove my hand away) and set her on the carpet a little ways away from the cage and she ran back and got into the cage bin and started doing the same thing at which point I took her out (again she tried to push my hand away) and put her back in her current cage.

Anybody have any idea what just happened and why? If it matters in that cage she would cage bite the bars or the tubbing i put in the cage like a nut job. Bad memories? missing her old cage and she was freaking out because there was no bedding? I don't know. Either way I have already recleaned the old cage in case there was some of her scent still lingering on it and I never plan on letting her climb into it again. just in case.

edit: I'm an idiot. I forgot a basic fact about hamsters. They mark their territory. So I'm thinking she could smell that her old cage smelt differently and was trying to mark it as hers and was mad because she thought another animal was stealing her home? yes or no? if you would be so kind.

It probably smells like her & is a familiar territory she is going back to. While all hams are different, I would say that as she's only been in her new bin cage for a couple of days that you may want to give her a bit of time to settle in first, similar to when you first bring them home. I've found for most of my hams that after cage upgrades they've needed a week or two to settle in & calm down. It's still a big upheaval for them. The bedding from their old cages/accessories in the same place all make a transition easier but they still know it's different. I'm sure she'll settle in in no time.

I'd say she was marking her cage as the scent glands are rubbed along things to spread the scent over it. I'd avoid too much cleaning or changing things till she settles down and let her keep her scent around the cage.

This is actually pretty normal behavior, even in they're environment you may not see so often or aggressive as they mostly do it when they're active and your asleep.

She simply just recognised her scent on her old cage and wanted to mark back over it. Even if you spot her doing this especially after a cage clean or a pick out shes not freaking out it is normal. Although if you clean her out too often scenting will be more frequent it can be harmful to their health and can rub the skin and cause irritation.
