Taming
How do you tame a hamster who stays burrowed most of the time and refuses to take treats.

Re: Taming
I'm assuming that your hammy is up only in the wee hours of the morning? I have the same situation with one of my dwarves. I wake her up and take her out a couple times a week and put her in the play pen, she seems to enjoy it when she's in it but I don't think she likes me waking her up. I kind of just let her sleep, I put a Silent Runner in her cage with a nice pile of food in her food dish and leave her be.
Sometimes she'll wake up in the morning for a drink and for some food. Then I can go over and give her a treat and talk with her, but it doesn't last long before she's back to sleep. I don't think there really is anything you can do. See what other members say?

Re: Taming
I have a similar thing with my dwarf to. She doesn't come out until late (often 11pm -midnight) I am often awake late, so get to see her.
I have has some success with rustling/slightly moving the substrate or making little noises in her tank eg spinning her wheel or dropping a treat into her bowl.
I used to gently knock on a previous hamsters platform. Different thing can work for different hamsters. My sister used to whistle and her hamster would come out. Try different things and use what ever works best for your hamster. Try to get into a routine if you can.
A treat or food that has a stronger smell can lure a hamster out

Re: Taming
I have the same thing with my robo, Nano, too - makes it quite difficult to tame her. Also she's still extremely skittish and wants me to leave her alone, so I think a lot of patience is needed with to get her to become a little less jumpy of everything! Bless her.
