Default taming ideas please :)

hi everyone i have a gorgeous syrian called george.
i have had him for a couple of months and im struggling with taming.
he is very curious and comes to the bars of the cage to say hi.
i put the ball in the cage and let him walk into it so that gives him time for a run around and gives me a chance to clean the cage.
i put the ball in the bath and let him climb out and he is happy to be stroked but i cant pick him up. he jumps and runs.
this is why i put him in the bath - chasing a hamster around the room is not fun and i really dont want him to get lost or hurt!
i think he wants to be friends as he is friendly he is just very scared of being picked up.
is there anything else i can try?
ive had many hamsters and they have all been so much easier to tame than george.
he is so cute i just want to give him cuddles

I think getting in the bath and letting him walk out the bath on to you would be good. Have a read all of the taming tips on the WIKI too.
