Trying to bite me:(
Hey guys so previously my hammy bit me a few times but i know why but recently he's trying to bite me more? I've noticed he's not our as much as he used to be. I gave him food and he almost got my finger instead in which i flinched and he looked so upset. He's even trying to do it through the bars. I'm not sure why but i have changed his nest place from a house to an igloo but he seemed very settled. I just got home after beint away for about 12 hrs. I found him in his tunnel not moving so i blew him and he froze. He cane out eventually and i gently spoke to him. I gave him some food and he avoided it and tried to bite my finger instead ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif) i moved it away and took my hand out the cage and now hes sitting by where he was not moving? I'm worried something is defo bothering him. I'm mid taming and i'm worried we might go a step back

Re: Trying to bite me:(
Changing things while still taming & getting them settled is best avoided if possible, you could try putting the house back, plastic igloos can get a bit unhealthy if they pee in them so he might be better in a house anyway.
I wouldn't change anything for a while now, maybe just go back to the beginning again, do the tissue trick for a while & see if he settles back down.

Re: Trying to bite me:(
Hi! Maybe best to try and handling out of the cage rather than in it as well. After a few days of letting him settle and the tissue trick again. Also avoid cleaning out too much - just spot clean mostly and then you won't need to replace all the substrate very often. I replace about half the substrate every 2 or 3 months, with spot cleaning and using a potty litter tray. Also do the toys on a different week to doing the substrate so something still smells familiar.
I wouldn't blow on him - I think that can set things back really. It isn't pleasant for the hamster and is more likely to make him anti you rather than achieve anything.

His house is tiny and he can hardly get in and out of it so I had to buy him a guinea pig igloo which is bigger. Ok thanks for the advice I will do that.
