Screaming and Nightmares?
Sounds of sheer hammy terror had me running to Aurora 's cage fearing the worst, such as her comfort wheel crushing her or another ham getting into her cage and fighting. I unburied her only to find a very sleepy and surprised face looking up at me. Upon picking her up and giving her a quick once over (which she didn't much appreciate ) she turned out to be perfectly fine. I stuck her back in the pile of tp that is her nest and she went right back to sleep. So is it possible that she was having a nightmare?

Re: Screaming and Nightmares?
This is quite common in young hamsters. They lie in bed and squawk and grumble without even knowing they do it! Funny beasts

Re: Screaming and Nightmares?
My littleKornelia does this as well! Even though she is not a "young" hammy, she still has bad dreams every once in a while.

Re: Screaming and Nightmares?
Willow is about 1 year old now and she sleep talks all the time! She doesn't really have "bad dreams" - she just squeaks at night sometimes! It's perfectly normal - just as normal as humans sleep talking

Ooh poor Aurora - she must have been having a scary dream. No more cheese at bedtime I reckon I hope she settles soon.

Re: Screaming and Nightmares?
LOL. They do tend to scare the beejesus out of us, even when they aren't trying. Isn't it amazing how loud they can scream? The first time a baby did that to me I jumped a foot.

Re: Screaming and Nightmares?
Aww, I've had winter whites and syrians do this. Very cute, but alarming to hear for the first time!
