Is this normal?
I have an 8 month old female syrian hamster, I've noticed that sometimes she twitches/turns her head really fast like something bothered or scared her, sometimes afterwards she runs away and hides in her bedding. Is she okay?

Re: Is this normal?
Hi. Welcome to HC. Sometimes they'll hear things we can't or get scared by shadows above them. They'll probably assume it's something come to attack them, as would happen in the wild. Sometimes they'll freeze completely still and other times they'll leg it to their nest. She's probably just startled by something she's seen or heard.

Re: Is this normal?
Hamsters have exquisite hearing. They can hear frequencies we can't.

Re: Is this normal?
Hello Bo0. Hamsters are prey animals, so noises and shadows and such will alarm them. Sometimes the world can seem scary to a little fluff who is only inches big. It's normal for them.
