Default Trying to xscape!

So I think Elmo is becoming very comfortable with scaring me to death. I have been leaving the front of his cage open No board in front of it. I had just got done letting him have play time. I put him back an (this was my fault) forgot to board his cage.

When I woke up he had took some bedding an went to the top of his cage an went to sleep in my son's blanket. Lol

So last night after I boarded Elmo up. He found away out an was asleep in my sheets beside his cage. I think he's starting to think scaring me is funny. He don't leave the cage any other time it's just when I change something about his cage. Lol Elmo is showing his true sneaky colors lol I love it.

Maybe he just likes the fabrics? You could try offering him a small piece of fleece or an old shirt in his cage if that's where he wants to sleep haha unless he just gets so tired from escaping that he needs to take a nap

I didn't know they could have that stuff. I'll try that he might like it better. He could of got away but didn't he stayed curled up in the blanket the first time with a little bit of bedding an the second time he was curled up in the sheet.

So I can give him some???

I think fleece is a safe fabric, because there are no long threads in which he can get stuck, but I'm not 100% sure. : )

Yes. Fleece (especially pill free) and cotton are safe materials. Just watch him at first and make sure he's not sitting there eating large amounts (a little taste is okay but not too much). I use fleece for my rabbit so I have pieces that they chew off and I use those for my hamsters and I've never had a problem.

If the fleece does have some loose threads of pills just make sure his feet/nails don't get stuck

You could even litter box train him and then use fleece as a main substrate. Putting it loosely in the cage is better than flattening it out because they like to fit under it and will chew through it to get under if they cant

Be careful with fleece, if he chews and swallows pieces it can cause internal blockages. Just make sure to monitor carefully and remove it immediately if there are any signs of chewing.

This is a bit of a late post but honestly fleece is safe. However,a previous poster had said that cotton is safe and that is untrue.Cotton frays quite easily and is not digestible,so it should never be considered safe.
