Strange behavior-anxiety?
Evie has been with us for 3 days and came to us in an unfairly small cage. We have ordered one, and it comes tomorrow. In the meantime, she had her first times in a hamster ball yesterday and today and loved it! Afterwards, though, she seemed very keyed up, racing around and climbing bars. It occurs to me that she may never have left the cage before in her life, and it could be a strange experience to realize there's more out there than a 25x45 cm box. She may also be mad at being put back in after freedom. Thoughts?

Re: Strange behavior-anxiety?
I think mad at being put back, plus maybe just a bit stressed at something new. I'm sure she'll love her new cage.

Re: Strange behavior-anxiety?
They can get very hyper in a ball, you might want to shorten the time in it as although they do love it I think somehow it overstimulates them somehow, they get quickly dehydrated too. I'd alternate playpen or bath time with small doses of ball, and also check how she responds to just free ranging on its own and compare it with how she is when she's been in the ball before you get into a routine with her just in case one sort of out of the cage activity suits her better than others
