Startled for seemingly no reason!

Hi everyone, just had a really weird experience with my hamster and thought where better to go for answers.

My little girl Honeydew is a syrian hamster. She is completely tame and has been since about a week after I got her in November of last year. She lives in the Alaska cage. She has never bitten me and she only cried at me during the first week I bought her home before taming her.

Anyway, today we were having our daily play on my bed, everything is fine. Very calm. She is sitting on my lap washing her face when suddenly she leaps up towards my face and makes some sort of loud squeak, almost sounded like a sneeze actually.

I caught her gently and she was immediately calm again. I put her back in her cage after this.

There was literally... nothing I can think of that would have caused her to do this? We are in a well lit room, no music, no other people. I am talking to my girlfriend on loud speaker but very gently. She's been with me before when we do this.

I mean, obviously she was startled for some reason but has anyone else had this happen where you just cannot think what caused it?

Yes my ham ted did this. He was sittling all peaceful on my lap on the sofa when all of a sudden he jumped and darted across the sofa and ended up behind my husbands back. We still dont know what happened to startle him.
