Syrian sleeping strange!
Ok so I'm a new hamster owner Iv had cherry for almost a month now she is settled in well and probably half way through taming so she's happy for me to stroke her , give her treats but not yet pick her up! Basicly why I posting is she gets up at either 7:30 or 8:30 plays for a bit Untill I come to see if she's up and then we do some taming for half an hour and she then plays in her ball Untill I see she's bored and she hops back into her cage again. She then plays in her cage a bit more but then I realise I can't hear her anymore and she's completely asleep in the middle of the cage (not in her house) and sleeps for 10/15 mins. I'm wondering what's causing this and is this normal as when she is awake she's very energetic! Am I feeding her the wrong food or treats? (I feed her pets at home healthy balance and the pets at home drops (only a few a day during taming) and she does have a corn on the cob in her cage) I didn't know if she was too cold maybe? My heating is on the blink atm but i wouldn't exactly say it's cold in my room and have put lots of toilet roll in for nesting.or is she just a lazy hamster that needs a power nap haha. I hope this makes sence and someone can help

Re: Syrian sleeping strange!
Hi! If your ham is doing the same thing every day I wouldn't worry about it, they all have their quirks! One of mine does the same sort of thing, he parties hard lol then has a nap wherever he is (once he tried to nap on the edge of his platform!) Then he gets up abducting parties again! My other ham also had a power nap behind the sofa during his out of cage time this evening.

Re: Syrian sleeping strange!
LOL. Hamsters will sleep anywhere they like. Most settle in a nest and are happy with it. But lots of other hammies will change where they sleep from time to time. I've had hams sleep in their wheels, ones who sleep all spread out in the open, upside down in a tube, and ones who fall asleep hanging off a shelf. It isn't a problem.
