HELP! Winter White Dwarf won't stop scratching!
It has been going on for awhile now but it has gotten worse. Big Bertha, my winter white dwarf, will NOT stop scratching herself. It has gotten so bad that she has large scabs on her back and missing patches of fur. I don't use strong chemicals or anything when I clean her cage, and she has just normal paper bedding. I'm concerned and confused!

I really think she needs to see a vet. You have been doing all you can to remove allergens but it sounds like she may have mites. The vet should be able to give you a spot on or an injection and because she has so many broken patches that may be best. I hope you can get her seen soon as it looks sore x

I agree, seeing a vet would be a good idea.
If you can't get to a vet than you could try changing the bedding and offering a dust bathing bowl, this can help remove parasites and grease, both causing itchy skin.

I called the only local vet that accepts hamsters and I am taking her in on Saturday.

While she has scabs and dry skin, hold off on giving her a dust bath as it can dry out the skin causing further irritation. It could be mites or mange, hopefully the vet will be able to help. Do let us know how she gets on! X
