Default Cleaning the cage !

Hi, another question ! I have just cleaned out Melodys cage, I saved a bit of her bedding but as she seems to poop in her bed I emptied it right out, put clean saw dust and then put some clean food back in her hiding place and replaced the bedding that was clean and left her some new stuff to remake her bed. She is now sitting in the top of her cage in her other hut and won't come out. My question is should I empty out her bed or is it bad to do this ? Or should I leave the poop ?? Confused of best thing to do for her, thanks in advance x

Hamster Poop isn't smelly or dirty - it's just like little seeds - best not to try and remove every little bit of it. This cage cleaning video by Erin's Hamsters explains all! It really helped me with cage cleans and avoiding stressing your hamster - their nest is their most important thing and part cleans are better than full ones sometimes. Anyway here's the link - it's helpful.

I've always tried to keep a bit of old bedding so that the scent is familiar in the clean cage. But its not unusual for a little bit of a tantrum from a ham, as they usually believe they've put everything how it should be and don't really appreciate our efforts to keep it clean
She should hopefully settle down, but you can always try keeping more old bedding in the cage next time round, or cleaning the cage in parts, to see if shes a bit happier about it that way
