Taming process
Hi all, I've been reading about how to tame your hamster in this forum and I have learnt a lot! Read a couple of days ago about the tissue trick. And finally I decided I will have a go.
I washed my hands, with the same soap I use before and after I interact with Valentino and sat to watch tv for an hour or so while holding the tissue in my hands. I opened the cage and left the tissue close to Valentino's house. He was there, by his house nibbling his treats. It didn't even take 2 seconds until Valentino grabs it and take it into his house!
I'm really happy with him. I have had him almost 2 weeks now and he seems to like me. Takes food from my hand and has never bitten me (apart once when I hadn't washed my hands after handling his food). It was my fault though,he thought I was food!
Are there any other tips you could give me regarding taking?
Thank you all

Re: Taming process
I'm glad to hear the taming process is going well
I trick for taming that many recommend is bathtub/playpen bonding, in which you sit in a bathtub or playpen with your hamster and a few toys, your hamster will be able to climb over you and learn your scent.
Here's a few videos on it:

Re: Taming process
He finally did!!! I thought it would be much harder than that. Couldn't believe it yesterday when I saw him picking the tissue. I'm really pleased but is it really because he feels comfortable with my smell or is it a coincidence?

Re: Taming process
It could be either or, but him taking the tissue into the place he sleeps will definitely help with the taming process
