Thanks guys. Quick and final question - i noticed he / she has a dirty bum - but it's dry. Is this normal? It's as if he had a bit of loose poo and lay on it or something.

Maybe just not feeling up to grooming properly yet? A lots been going on, I'd just give it a clean with damp cotton wool if needed & see how it goes, as his health improves & he settles in with the new substrate he'll probably just sort himself out I would think.

Thanks for all your help guys. He managed to some how move his bed to the edge of the wee platform this morning and I woke up to him hanging out of it. Lucky it's not a long drop or a hard fall. He's an idiot. But thank you all. You're awesome!

Lol! That sounds funny if a lucky escape. Maybe you could put his bed on the floor of the cage on top of the substrate instead of on the shelf (do you mean his nest? or his house?) - sounds like he isn't quite up to bunk beds right now.

I moved his bed but he has decided to nest in the corner instead. You can't stop him - he's stubborn!
