To make it even more enticing for him, spread a little bit of peanut butter on some of the Rice Krispies. He won't be able to stay away from that!

Thanks Jen I'll try that when I'm back at my Mums. My estranged sister is still staying there trying to catch him but I'm told she's given up as no sign of him while she's been there.

There's been no sign of Blitzon for a couple of weeks now. I've tried female bedding, peanut butter, tuna, smoked mackerel, treats, nuts, hamster food, a tube, the lot. I know the trap works because each day the tube is flat in the bottom of the tank along with what I'm guessing are mouse droppings. I'm positive a hamster could not get out of there (the tank is glass and 15 inches high with nothing to climb up on bar the tube which falls flat) but the mouse / mice must be jumping.

Sadly I think he's gone. I'm going to set a humane trap for the mouse / mice and if still no hammy I'm done.

Thank you all for all your help and advice.

I think a humane trap is a good idea, just to make sure. You never know.

Sorry to hear that. He may be having a nice little life under your cupboards. Maybe the mice are keeping him away from the traps! Mice can certainly jump quite high. Either that or he has left the house and gone on a big adventure. Good luck little Blitzen.

Im sorry.. Many years ago one of mine never came back, he kept coming up in next doors bedroom but they wouldn't catch him and blocked the hole, sadly he died somewhere in the foundations /walling of the 4 terraced houses.
