How old is Alfie? If he's still very young that wheel should be fine for a while but once he's fully grown he will need a bigger one, something like the large silent spinner of large wonderland wheel, they're something like 11" or 28cm I think, that's something to bear in mind when you look at cages, you need a reasonable amount of height just to fit the wheel in!

Ah tippy let me reassure you that everyone here respects you for wanting to do what's best for your fluffy friend-- AND everyone here, I'd venture, has had the same experience of finding out that the cage they were sold as "perfect" was not! I suggest you have a look around the forum to see what some of the others have done to make their Syrian hamsters a fine home. Now you don't have to break the bank there are plenty of money saving ideas too. Do be careful of pictures of cages on sites selling them because they don't always show the size being sold and they photoshop in hamsters that are the wrong size. Be sure to check the actual measurements. If you have any questions everyone here will be more than happy to help you! What's your Hammie's name? Can you post a picture?

I have decided that I am going to purchase a bigger cage for alfie and decorate it and give it a nice theme
