For the love of doors...
Just a random question from something I've observed of Rue. She's obsessed with doors. Be it her cage door or the door to whatever room we're in. She knows where the doors are and is determined to get to them. Once she knew where the door of her cage was she became obsessed with bar chewing on the door to get out. Then I noticed once I got her a ball she seemed to head for the closed bedroom door and scramble against as if trying to get out. I thought maybe I was reading too much into it but she did the same to my closed kitchen door. My sister barricaded it with chairs in case someone entered the room and knocked the ball but she just spent ages trying to navigate the ball through the chairs to the door... and eventually managed it. Lol.
So I figured I'd ask... anyone else's hamster obsessed with doors?

Re: For the love of doors...
Yep lol All my girls come to the cage doors when they want to come out, and all 3 make a beeline for the door when they are in their balls I just let them go through it because once they have 2 minutes later it's hey presto there's another door and they're back lol

I guess they're a lot smarter than I give them credit for. LOL. I'd love to let her have the run of the place in her ball but my dogs would love nothing more to chase her around in it so she's stuck one room at a time. D:

Our chihuahuas are obsessed. Especially at first. They would just sit and statr at them for ages. Also wouldn't let each other near the cages. We're lucky we have two hamsters who don't seem to care.

Re: For the love of doors...
I give mine a certain route and rooms for their exercise balls, well my oldest doesn't like going out in his ball so I let him be and my youngest loves it!

Re: For the love of doors...
My room is connected to my Mom's room via our bathroom... I have a bathroom door, and she has a bathroom door, and I'll close my and my Mom's bedroom doors and let him go from my room and into my mom's room, he loves it ha ha.
They're very smart, they know what is where.

Re: For the love of doors...
Rue seems to love hers and I'm really glad. Hopefully some days I'll be able to let her go around the kitchen and the hall while the dogs are safely locked in another room. Right now I'm just worried anyone might scoot her across the floor and traumatise her. Having hamsters around the place is still kind of new for everyone. Lol.
