Hello,

I have the same problem, it is urine, there isn't really a way to control when it has to go to the loo. Maybe give it a break from the ball for a bit as it might not like it so much.

That is hammy wee for sure. It is not like human wee and is very concentrated and thick whiteish stuff in hammies. You should try and let him in the wheel after he has been up for a while and has already wee'ed in his cage. Give him breaks from being in the ball every 5 minutes and back in the cage for a drink and a wee. Make sure you wash it out or he will run through it and have a wee shower

Ok thanks thats a relief in that i thought he might have an infection or something, although its a bit stressfull having to watch where he stops in case he widdles on the carpet so ill do what you advise. Thanks

I have another question I saw on someones picture on here a sort of hamster treadmill that was like a saucer shape and the hamster ran on it rather than in a wheel, it was blue, i've looked in my local pet shops but can't see anything like it - does anyone know where to get one from??? I'm in south yorkshire - uk???

Thanks

I have seen the flying saucers in various places including P@H and in some garden centres. You can also get them online and sometimes on e bay. Make sure you get a good sized one for a syrian though are some are only suitable for dwarfs.

DOH!!!

I wish i'd read that post a couple of hours ago i've just bought a medium sized flying saucer from p@h and he can only just fit on it, he trys to run on it but he just spins round then falls off!

Is this cos it is too small for my syrian thats (does he need the large size) or do they have a learning curve??

Thanks

p.s. i've tried a lager size wheel as he has outgrown the one that came with the cage but when he gets up to full speed it just bangs against the side of the cage and is very noisy so i'm just trying to find a quiet alternative to the wheel???

I think there is a learning curve to it, search "flying saucer hamster" on YouTube and you will see some hamsters do the same thing.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but what size should I get for my dwarf hamster? Small or Medium? Hmmm..

Judging by my experiences i would say at least a medium for a dwarf, and a large for syrian but even then i think its on the small side.
