Default Screech meet Marvin

Today, Screech came out of her cage and she seemed quite pleased and came to say hello. She stood there meerkating again and sniffing the air a lot towards Marvins cage. I took her out and cuddled her a bit and I thought I would try and see how they got on. I put Screech in Marvins cage.

She enjoyed going all around his cage and sniffing everything. She 'scented' a wood chew and a bonio bone, had a bath in his sand bath and a run in his wheel. She then went into Marvins wooden house and woke him up. He squeeked a little bit but not a warning screech, a sort of gentle squeek.
She came back out and after he had sorted some bedding out, he came out and walked to his food. Screech went on the wheel and Marvin ate a pumpkin seed. I took Screech out and she kept sniffing and walking over me towards Marvins cage. I took Marvin out and put them both on the sofa. There was no fighting and not much contact. ^They were both sniffing away and they met now and again. They greeted each other face to face and sniffed each others rears. Screech sniffing Marvin more. After about 10 mins, i put them both back in their cages. marvin went and settled down in the corner of the cage and looked like a little school boy sent to the corner of the classroom. lol. Screech stayed at the front of her cage sniffing for a few mins then went to bed.
I hope I can get the pics up as photobucket was playing up a bit to view them.

They both behaved very well. I am very pleased with both of them.

I might let them run around again together, but I dont want them to get too pally pally and end up with babies. I dont have any cages spare nor do i want to put Screech's health at risk.

They both look the same with same markings, but as they are hybrids and from different parts of the country, I dont know any of their backgrounds. Marvins eyes seem to be larger or bulgier than Screech's unless it is Screech is a bit fatter and has chubby cheeks. lol.

heheh. i understand you. once i had a friend that breeds and the stupid guy breed Chinese with robos... poor darlings.. the ones that where not eaten by the mommy died few months after of all kinds of infections. very sad...
but i am happy to see that some people still think more about the animal than about themselves. because breading is all about the babies that are born. most people docent care about the mommy

good to know that there is some good people in this world

Thanks.

There is a girl a few miles away from me. I have never met her, but I see her ads all the time. She has dwarf hamsters for sale at £6 then drops them to 'free hamsters' after about two or three weeks. They will go but then she will have more for sale and it starts over again. I would hate to see what the mother ham looks like. She must be stressed as she seems to be having babies all the time.
Some people think they are money making machines, but when they dont sell, they have to give them away before the next lot are born.

Chinese and Roborovski hamsters can't breed, they have very different chromosome counts. Are you sure he didn't have another hamster in the cage that could have been the parent?

I've often wondered about the other dwarf species, and what if they were bred together. Would the female not get pregnant, since they have different chromosome counts? Or, could the female get pregnant, but produce still born pups?
