Red face "Meerkating" Hamsters

So my hamsters, Pocky in particular, always seems to "meerkat" as I call it (where they stand on their back legs and look up when something interests them).
Whenever Pocky is out playing, whether its on my hand or in his playpen, there's always something that must catch his attention, don't know whether it s a smell, sound or something he can see, or whether he's just a very curious little hamster, but he's forever "meerkating" all the time . I find it so cute and funny when he does it (sometimes if he's standing on top of something he'll lose his balance and fall, which is even cuter), and I also have some photos of him doing it, so I was just wondering, do any of your hamsters "meerkat" a lot, and if they do what makes them do it? And also if anyone has photos of their hammies doing it please post them as I'd love to see it, I find it really cute and fascinating when Pocky does it

I love when they do it and it can be anything from the sound of a shoe scuffing on the floor to the rattle of the food bag that makes it happen. Sometimes whatever caught her attention is just a mystery to me. Maybe she's receiving instructions of some sort...

I've noticed it's more Pocky that does it than Miso, he stops and looks around for ages, I'd love to know what it is that catches his attention

I love it when they do that too
I gave Flynt a new hammock a few days ago & as soon as he saw it he just stood there like that for ages!

I think my two hamsters were definitely meerkats in a past life... they're always up on their back two legs looking around and sniffing at everything

When my Screech 'meercats' she looks like a sack of spuds. lol. She was doing it in the shop against the wall screeching at the shop assistant when she was trying to get her in the box. lol

She is. lol. I disturbed her yesterday to weigh her and I had to force her out of bed. She was boxing her bedding and screeching like mad, but she was soon back in bed. As soon as I picked her up, she was quiet. lol

I'd love to know what they're interested in
And Ian sounds like you have a very vocal hamster , I wish mine would squeak more (obviously happy squeaks), the only time I ever hear anything from them is when they're dreaming
